“We act according to our perceived self-image.” – Moshe Feldenkrais
Self-image has so many definitions. Neuroscientists equate self-image with self-esteem and identify the white matter in our pre-frontal neocortex as the home. I have a friend with fantastic curly hair who blows it straight every morning because curly hair is “not me.” A man I knew once wore pants way too small for him, stuck in the self-image that he was still a 32 waist athlete. But self-image can be defined in another way: the way you stand, where your perceived center of gravity is, how you balance your head, the length of your footsteps and more contribute to how you move through life. When you clarify how you are, you begin to know, from the inside out, who you are. This compilation is the result of many requests from people to gather lessons I have taught around the theme of self-image. It was fun to go through my files and revisit this path of exploration. I hope you enjoy them as well!
