The Art and Science of Emotional Fluency
A Special Online Course with Lavinia Plonka(Live & Via replay)
We take the expression of our emotions for granted. I start to feel angry, maybe I try to control it by breathing. But where does it begin? Or maybe I don’t even recognize anger, but instead, I feel ill, or have a stiff neck, not realizing that…I’m simply angry.
There is a science to knowing your emotional state. And there is an art to cultivating fluency. To be emotionally fluent means you are able to express yourself with clarity and intention. Like being fluent in any language, choosing an appropriate behavior can become as effortless as speaking your native tongue.
This three part course will introduce you to your emotional vocabulary through Awareness Through Movement®, discussion, and inner exploration based on the Kinēsa® process. Empower yourself to navigate life’s challenges with grace, learn to reduce unnecessary stress and develop emotional and physical resilience.

Workshop Itinerary
February 11, 2-4 PM EST
Part I: Getting to the Core – Your Primal Emotions
Our deepest emotions live in the lower abdomen and hips: fight, flight, freeze, fawn, rage, grief, lust, ecstasy, despair. Learn how your hip flexors, pelvic floor and sphincters help you move with power through emotional turmoil and how they become compromised when trapped in deep feelings.
March 11, 2–4 PM EST
Part II: The Importance and Peril of Ego – Your Self Image
How do I react/respond to personal challenges? Will, self-esteem, righteous indignation, excitement, betrayal, pride and more dance in the gut: your solar plexus, liver, gall bladder, even your spleen participate in your manifestation of personality.
April 8, 2–4 PM EST
Part III: Your Other Brain – The Intelligence of Your Heart Center
The ancients knew this, but science is just catching up. The connection between brain, heart, and lungs; how we process information in our environment in order to make intelligent decisions or make painful mistakes is in literature from the Bhagavad Gita to Shakespeare. Loyalty, compassion, anxiety, depression, and serenity are just a few choices we can make at any moment.
